Yellow Lines Yellow Lines

Loading and unloading is permitted on single and double yellow lines, provided you do not cause an obstruction and there is no loading ban (i.e. pips on the pavements).

Waiting restrictions indicated by yellow lines apply to the carriageway, pavement and verge. Double yellow lines mean no waiting at any time. White bay markings and upright signs indicate where parking is allowed.

Parking regulations do not apply for vehicles loading and unloading. See our table for the max observation period permitted by each London council.

Single Yellow Line

Single Yellow Line

A single yellow line on the road means that, at some time of the day, there will be parking restrictions.

Double yellow lines

Double yellow lines

This means that parking is restricted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (in other words at any time). Since 31st January 2003 councils are not required to erect a sign plate to accompany an 'at any time' restriction.
