Online Freight Map for London
13/06/2009
Recent work as a pilot with Hackney and Islington Councils in co-operation with TfL has progressed to develop the first comprehensive and detailed online freight mapping service for deliveries of any nature throughout these boroughs.
The service does not have to be exlcusively used for just freight movement but can also be useful for a local or large business making deliveries within the boroughs.
The main idea of this map is to provide drivers with an appropriate route to travel upon in order to avoid restricted areas (i.e. height/weight/width restrictions, loading/unloading bays, single/double yellow lines, PCN hotspots etc) and to hopefully provide them with valuable information to do so.
The map can be viewed on the following link http://mapping.thepieguide.com/freight/ and intends to be launched in the near future once feedback is received from operators, businesses and colleagues in the industry.
Please feedback your comments to PIE via email so appropriate actions can be made to the map and service. Please note that this map is not intended to be a route planner but instead outlines all the freight features and attributes to the operator so they can get visibility of the last mile.
