PIE Digital Mapping – Complete Directions, Gateway & Bespoke
PIE has a strong technical and creative capability with delivering lot of useful content onto maps. We have created our structured database (Grand Central) that manages and conditions millions of on street parking and other transport related data.
PIE built (pre-Google maps) our own Ajax mapping application which for purposes of bus navigation included animated buses on the map following the bus route. PIE struggled to find openly available technologies to draw Yellow lines or Red Routes onto maps and we had to build our own solutions to achieve this. Our contribution to the Open Source WMS has helped thousands of other developers evolve essential map capabilities on maps. PIE is GIS competent and GIS web representation creditable with a strong eye on creditable design architectures that provide our customers with leading edge and easy to evolve services.
Our interactive mapping engine and solution offers full language translation capabilities and well as being one of the first solutions heavily tested for accessibility and being text readable. We can create any type of maps and manage the representation of any form of content overlay.
We created the Complete Directions venue mapping application which delivers map and user specific journey planning for sites that includes; Earl’s Court, Olympia and Lords Cricket Ground.
Our bespoke mapping applications includes the online mapping service to the Government (Directgov), this is UK wide specifically for geospatial disability content. (www.direct.gov.uk/bluebadgemap.) This included the creation of a mobile phone application. Text Blue 83377
Other bespoke mapping applications include local authority freight mapping. Further information can be found in news and features section of the main PIE website.

Note our Parking for Blue Badges site has been absorbed into the Direct Gov Blue Badge Map www.direct.gov.uk/bluebadgemap
PIE Data
With the growing need for geo spatial data and the many applications to deliver maps to end users, PIE works with many partners to condition and groom our data that is then licensed for these many applications. Our data for example is provided to Yell.com for their online mapping portal as well as for Yell.com mobile service.
Recent applications include our data being used on Pro Nav (freight specific sat nav) as innovatively for the BBNav a dedicated Sat Nav for people with restricted mobility.
